چکیده
We report an observation of a giant magneto-optical (MO) effect quadratic in magnetization (Cotton-Mouton effect) 50 nm thick layer yttrium-iron garnet (YIG). By combined theoretical and experimental approach, we managed to quantify both linear MO effects the studied material. show that signal thin YIG film can exceed response, reaching values 450 \ensuremath{\mu}rad are comparable with Heusler alloys or ferromagnetic semiconductors. This relative enhancement response is attributed antiferromagnetic coupling two Fe sublattices. Furthermore, demonstrate proper choice conditions, particularly respect used wavelength, crucial for optimization effect, which be very efficiently magnetometry measurement.

Large area magneto-optical investigations of YBCO thin films
A new apparatus for magneto-optical investigations of high temperature superconducting ~HTS! films as large as 20320 cm is presented. With this equipment flux penetration of an external magnetic field into YBCO thin films has been studied by scanning the samples through an inhomogeneous magnetic field ~magneto-optical scanning technique, MOST!. The normal penetration of magnetic flux into a sup...
متن کاملMagneto-optical properties of chromium-alloyed manganese bismuth thin films
MnBi thin films have been considered for short-wavelength rewritable optical recording media due to the very large magneto-optic Kerr rotation and perpendicular anisotropy (Ku) of the hexagonal magnetic low-temperature MnBi phase. However, coincident structural and magnetic transformations near the Curie temperature ~360 °C! result in poor thermal cycling behavior, preventing the application of...
متن کاملLongitudinal Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect in Ce:YIG Thin Films Incorporating Gold Nanoparticles
We report an experimental study on optical and magneto-optical properties of Cesubstituted yttrium iron garnet thin films incorporating gold nanoparticles. Au nanoparticles were formed by heating Au thin film on cubic quartz and garnet substrate in vacuum chamber and a Ce:YIG layer was deposited on them by the aid of Pulsed laser deposition method. A large enhancement of the longitudinal Kerr e...
